INDIAN BEACHES

India is bounded by water on three sides, providing it with a 6,000 km long coastline and therefore India being blessed with a large number of beaches, which boast of scenic locales, pristine beauty and peaceful calm. Indian beaches provide the most tempting combination of sun, sand, sea and surf that is too hard to resist for any beach lover and water sport adventurer. The perfect combination of the sun, the sand and the sea is present at a number of places in the country. Indian beaches serve as the perfect getaway destinations for the people, who want to escape from the stressful and hectic city life for sometime and spend some quiet moments with their family and friends.

In India, beaches can be found in the coastal states of South India, along Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa, Goa, West Bengal, Daman & Diu and the islands of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar. Candolim Beach, Goa

Candolim beach in Goa is less crowded and a quieter beach when compared to the Anjuna or Calangute beaches. Though, it is quite familiar with the tourists, you can still find some quiet places for yourself to relax. You are also welcome to try your hand at fishing, as Candolim is one fine beach destination for experiencing it. The Candolim beach also offers various other water-sports activities - right from parasailing to water-skiing. Some hotels at Candolim beaches offer yoga and meditation session which come as a bonus for the tourists in Goa.

Kovalam Beach, Thiruvananthapuram, State - Kerala

Kovalam beach Located 16 km south of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) city and it is a world-famous beach resort, which has been a favourite beach destination for tourists since 1930s. The lovely coconut palms fringing the golden sands captivates numerous travellers from all over. The palm-fringed bays of Kovalam in secluded coconut groves, promise a relaxed stay. Foreigners pour into the Ayurvedic parlors, yoga and meditation centers, that have sprung up all over the place.

Juhu Beach, Mumbai, State - Maharashtra

Mumbai, the business capital of India is blessed with many beaches in its vicinity, that present a breather to the local population as well as act as attractive tourist option for those visiting from outside. One such beach site is Juhu, one of the largest and frequently visited beaches of India.

Juhu beach located 18-km north of the city centre and it is a major beach site on the shores of Arabian. This beach also one of the posh localities of Mumbai where one can find the bungalows of the famous film personalities of Bollywood. It's also a favourite shooting site among the filmmakers as many film shootings are also held over here.

Marina beach, Chennai

Marina beach is located on the eastern side of Chennai, joining with Bay of Bengal, looks like a piece of paper out of the Arabian nights. It is surrounded with golden sand, clean atmosphere and a shimmering clean blue sea. Stretched across a length of 12 Kilometers along the Bay of Bengal, The beach is counted among one of the longest beaches in Asia. Mount Stuart Elphinstone, the Governor of Madras state, developed this place as a tourist spot in early 1880s. Many people come here for swimming and bathing also although the sea is very rough here. In the evenings, the beach turns virtually in to a fair ground with various kinds of entertainment and food stalls lining the beach.

Ramakrishna Beach, Visakhapatnam, State - Andhra Pradesh

Ramakrishna Beach is the most popular beach of Visakhapatnam which is also known as one of the natural harbour of India. With its serene waters and tranquil atmosphere, the beach offers a lovely vista of the countryside. In the past few years, it has gained immense popularity amongst the tourists. Situated on the coastline of Andhra Pradesh, the beach overlooks the Bay of Bengal, along with its natural splendor. This charming beach is the extension of the Coromandal Coast of India and it is favorable for sunbathing and surfing, the shoreline is dotted with boats and ships on one side. Over and above, the spectacularly beautiful beach also makes the venue of the famous Visakha Utsav.
